Welcome to Kennelpedia! These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and 5A Worldwide Specialty Solutions LLC, the company that operates Kennelpedia (referred to in these Terms as “Kennelpedia,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), and explain the rules for using our website and services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using Kennelpedia, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Kennelpedia is a pet information portal offering a breed & species encyclopedia, a blog, a directory of pet-related service providers, pet adoption listings, and a community area where users can share photos and stories about their pets. Encyclopedia articles are researched and written by our own team (see Section 4). Everything else — service provider listings, adoption listings, community stories, breed suggestions, and pet profiles — is submitted by users and businesses, not by Kennelpedia. Kennelpedia is currently intended for use by, and about, pets and service providers located in the United States.
To submit a story, register a pet, list a business, post an adoption listing, or suggest a breed correction, you need to create an account with truthful, up-to-date information. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Contact us immediately through Contact Us if you suspect unauthorized use.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on Kennelpedia.
Most of the practical, actionable information on Kennelpedia — service provider listings (names, addresses, phone numbers, services offered, prices, hours), adoption listings, community stories and photos, and breed suggestions — is submitted by users and businesses, not by Kennelpedia.
This is important: we moderate, but we do not verify. Before anything goes live, submitted content is reviewed by our team. That review exists to screen for things like offensive language, harassment, spam, or content that otherwise violates these Terms — it does not confirm that the information is true, accurate, complete, current, or that any listed business is legitimate, licensed, insured, or trustworthy.
Kennelpedia does not verify, endorse, recommend, or guarantee any service provider, product, service, or adoption listing published on the site. A listing appearing on Kennelpedia is not an endorsement, certification, or approval by Kennelpedia of that business, its services, its prices, or its practices. Kennelpedia is simply an online catalog of information submitted by third parties.
Kennelpedia is not responsible for, and disclaims any liability arising from: incorrect addresses, phone numbers, hours, prices, or service descriptions; the quality, safety, legality, licensing, or outcome of any service you obtain from a listed provider; the health, temperament, or accuracy of the description of any animal listed for adoption; or any other inaccurate, outdated, or misleading information published by a user. Always use your own judgment, verify information directly with the business or individual before relying on it, and — especially before adopting an animal or hiring a service provider — do your own independent research (licenses, reviews, references, an in-person visit) before making any decision.
Unlike the directory and community sections, articles in our Breed & Species Encyclopedia are researched and written by our own team using publicly available, reputable sources (breed registries and associations, veterinary and wildlife organizations, established encyclopedias). Our research and drafting process is assisted by AI tools — see Section 3 of our Privacy Policy for details on how AI is used. We make a good-faith effort to keep this content accurate and up to date, but it is provided for general educational and informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a licensed veterinarian with any question about your pet’s health.
When you submit a business listing, adoption listing, community story, pet profile, or breed suggestion to Kennelpedia — including any name, description, text, logo, photo, or file you upload with it — you grant Kennelpedia a free, worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, and unrestricted license to use, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute that content, on the site and elsewhere, including on our social media accounts and in promotional or marketing materials for the platform.
This applies in particular to any photo you upload to a pet profile: Kennelpedia may use it — together with your pet’s name, breed, and general location (city/state) — anywhere on the site, including in homepage galleries or other featured placements, or in a Kennelpedia social media post, without needing to ask permission each time.
In practice, this means we may, for example, publish a listing’s name, description, and photo, or a pet’s name, breed, photo, and location, in an Instagram post, on the homepage, or elsewhere on the site promoting Kennelpedia.
By submitting any text, image, logo, or file, you represent and warrant that:
You agree to indemnify and hold Kennelpedia harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorney’s fees) arising from a breach of these representations — for example, a claim that a photo, logo, or file you submitted infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights.
If you submitted a photo, logo, or file by mistake that you didn’t have the right to use, contact us through Contact Us and we will remove it. Removing your account or a piece of content takes it down from the site going forward, but does not retract copies already published elsewhere under the license above before your removal request — for example, a past social media post. See Section 8 of our Privacy Policy for more on how account and content deletion works.
To keep Kennelpedia a safe, welcoming place for pet lovers, it is prohibited to:
We use an automated filter that blocks submissions containing known offensive words, in addition to manual review by our team. Even so, no system is perfect — if you come across content that violates these rules, please report it through Contact Us.
We may remove any content, decline a submission, or suspend or terminate an account, at any time and without prior notice, if we believe in good faith that it violates these Terms, applicable law, or puts other users or the platform at risk. You may close your account at any time by contacting us.
Kennelpedia’s service-provider directory and adoption listings exist only to connect people. We are not a party to any hiring, service agreement, sale, adoption, or other transaction arranged between users, we do not process payments, and we do not guarantee the delivery, quality, legality, or safety of any service, product, or adoption listed.
Every arrangement — including any payment, service delivery, adoption fee, or dispute — is solely the responsibility of the parties involved. Use common sense: verify a provider’s licensing or credentials directly with them (or the relevant state authority) before hiring, visit an animal in person before adopting when possible, and never send money or sensitive information without first confirming the other party’s legitimacy.
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the site will operate uninterrupted, error-free, or free of security vulnerabilities, nor that any content published by users is accurate, safe, or lawful.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Kennelpedia, its founders, and its contributors will not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, from content published by users, from our use of that content in the platform’s own promotion and marketing, or from any transaction, hiring, or adoption arranged between users — including, but not limited to, financial loss, loss of data, harm to a pet, or any dispute arising from a transaction between users.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make a material change, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Kennelpedia regarding your use of the Service, and supersede any prior agreement or understanding on the subject.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States, without prejudice to any consumer-protection laws applicable in your state or country of residence.
